First topic, absolute rookie here.
So, I need to read data from a modbus device and bought an Elfin-EW11A device and I am learning from any tutorial I can find on internet. High-Flying which is the manufacturer does provide some application notes but they are not very clear (to me at least).
So far I have been able to: 1) connect to the device 2) read data from the device (using node-red) . 3) connect the device to the test.mosquitto. org server 4) create a topic 5) connect to the test.mosquitto.org using Thomas Nordquist´s MQTT explorer and 6) see some data being published there under the topic I created on the device.
Here is how data looks on node-red:

and this is what it looks like on MQTT explorer:

So, my questions are:
1) Is this forum ok to get some help about this kind of topics or should I look for answers to these kind of questions elsewhere ? As I mentioned, I am a complete rookie.
2) How about formatting ? How do I see something readable on MQTT explorer ?
3) So far, it is all about testing, so: what publishing rate is acceptable using a free server like mosquitto.org ?
