This is almost a philosophical question. But i certainly don't mind. Good question!
In our documentation we strive for uniformity but we are in no way perfect in that area and I suspect you can find many names for the same thing.

In this case I think the different names comes from different times and from different vendors. Maybe also from different areas of operation. I would say the names referred to are the same thing. But a wall plug, no matter what it's called, can have many different functions, e.g. it might be a switch and/or a dimmer. It might have power metering. It tolerates different loads etc.
