I dont know where the documentation is for the metric notifier but this is how It should work.
First:
On the devices or functions you need to activate the metric monitor by adding this line of meta data
metric_monitor.max_silent_time with a time value 48h
Secondly:
In the installation you go to settings and add the meta data field
metric_notify.emails with a comma separated list of email adresses.
There is also metric_notify.notification_outputs where you can select another type of notification but I did not try that.
